Paolo Samorì joins the elite of materials science

Paolo Samorì has been appointed as a Fellow of the Materials Research Society (MRS), a first for a researcher from Strasbourg. This prestigious distinction recognizes his highly significant contributions to the advancement of materials science worldwide by developing novel high-performance multifunctional materials and devices for technologically relevant applications in (opto)electronics, energy and sensing. Founded in 1973 in the United States, the Materials Research Society is the worldwide most prestigious organization in materials science whose goal is to promote the advancement of research and technology in such an interdisciplinary field with the ultimate aim of improving the quality of life. MRS Fellows are outstanding members whose sustained and distinguished contributions are internationally recognized. Each year, the number of new Fellows is capped at 0.2% of the current total professional MRS membership. The inaugural class of MRS Fellows was announced in 2008. Paolo Samorì is the first scientist in Strasbourg and the third in France (after Clément Sanchez in 2012 and George Malliaras in 2017) to receive this lifetime recognition.
