Last week, the Primo Levi Award ceremony took place in the prestigious Sala Zuccari of the Senate of the Italian Republic, where our founder, Professor Jean-Marie Lehn, was honored in recognition of his exemplary commitment to the transnational nature of science and to pan-European scientific cooperation.
Established in 2017 by the German Chemical Society (GDCh), the Italian Chemical Society (SCI), and the International Primo Levi Study Center, the Primo Levi Prize celebrates scientists whose work combines research excellence with the defense of human rights and the promotion of science as a driver of fair, inclusive, and sustainable global progress.
Jean-Marie Lehn fully embodies these values. His pivotal role in the creation of Chemistry Europe, as well as his leadership within the International Organization for Chemical Sciences in Development (IOCD), has strengthened international scientific cooperation and advanced sustainable development, particularly in emerging and developing countries.
His profound belief — “Science is a vector of peace, development, and progress. It is universal. It should be shared universally.” — resonates strongly with Primo Levi’s legacy and reflects the very spirit in which Institute of Supramolecular Science and Engineering - ISIS was founded and continues to evolve.
We are proud to celebrate this exceptional distinction and to honor a vision of science that connects and inspires.
