ISIS is hosting its first “Climate and Sustainability Awareness Day,” open to all staff based at ISIS and CESQ. This special event will be an opportunity to deepen your understanding of key issues related to climate change and biodiversity, and to exchange ideas on best practices in scientific research.
As part of our celebration of the UN Ocean Decade and France’s Year of the Sea, we are honoured to welcome Dr. Laurent Bopp, a world-renowned climatologist and oceanographer, and a Member of the French Academy of Sciences, who will give a keynote conference.
Programme
8h45 – 12h00 Interactive workshops on climate change and sustainability
Join one of our 3 interactive workshops which will run in parallel:
- Climate Fresk (1 in French and 1 in English) – 16 seats
- Biodiversity Fresk (in English) – 16 seats
- Atelier 2 tonnes (in French) – 8 seats
NB: Each workshop lasts 3 hours and all participants are expected to stay all 3 hours. See below for a more complete description of the workshops.
Upon registration here.
12h00-14h00 Initiative marketplace – Best practice exchange in chemistry (ISIS 1 - Entrance Hall)
Join the Initiatives Marketplace, a space for exchange and collaboration dedicated to sharing best practices in chemistry. Come discover and discuss innovative actions carried out within the scientific community to promote more sustainable and responsible chemistry.
12h30-13h30 Buffet Lunch (ISIS 1 - Entrance Hall)
13h30-15h00 Illustrated Conference
The Illustrated Conference, led by Julien Briton, an expert in ecological transition and founder of Atelier 2050, is a dynamic and visual experience where he explains major environmental challenges while an illustrator draws live to bring the concepts to life. A educational, interactive, and inspiring format!

16h00-17h30 Keynote lecture by Dr Laurent Bopp, member of the French Academy of Sciences: 'Climate change – Current Status, Projections, Adaptation and Mitigation'
Laurent Bopp is a Research Director at CNRS at the Laboratory of Dynamic Meteorology (CNRS/École Polytechnique/ENS-PSL/Sorbonne University) within the Pierre-Simon Laplace Institute. A climatologist and oceanographer, he works on the carbon cycle in the ocean, with a particular focus on the evolution of the oceanic carbon sink. He also studies ocean acidification and the impacts of climate change on marine ecosystems. He is the author or co-author of over 200 scientific publications in international journals and served as a lead author for the 5th and 6th Assessment Reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). He has received the Sea Sciences Prize from the French Academy of Sciences and is a member of the Academia Europaea.

♦ Climate fresk : The Climate Fresk is a collaborative and engaging workshop designed to help participants understand the causes and consequences of climate change based on IPCC data. Working in small groups, participants reconstruct the links between different climate phenomena using cards, then discuss possible solutions and actions.
♦ Biodiversity fresk: The Biodiversity Fresk is a collaborative and educational workshop that helps participants understand the causes and consequences of biodiversity loss. Working in teams, they connect ecological mechanisms with human activities to grasp the challenges and possible actions.
♦ Atelier 2 tonnes : The "Atelier 2 tonnes" is an immersive, collaborative experience that helps participants understand how to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Participants explore different individual and collective levers for reducing their carbon footprint and work together to build a scenario for transitioning to a sustainable future.
