Biography

Guido Pupillo is a Distinguished Professor at the University of Strasbourg, where he serves as Director of the European Center for Quantum Sciences (CESQ) and the Quantum Physics Laboratory at ISIS. He previously held positions as a postdoctoral researcher and senior scientist at the University of Innsbruck (2005–2011), after earning a PhD from the University of Maryland in 2005 for research conducted at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg.

He coordinates several European projects, including the Horizon Europe Quantum Flagship program “EuRyQa – European Infrastructure for Rydberg Quantum Computing,” as well as the MSCA COFUND projects “QUSTEC” and “Gen-Q.” He is also co-coordinator of the French national PEPR-Q program “aQCess – Atomic Quantum Computing as a Service.”

Recipient of an ERC Starting Grant (2012) and the Guy Ourisson Prize (2013), he has been awarded two senior chairs by the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF): a Fundamental Chair in 2019 and an Innovation Chair in 2025. He is co-founder of the quantum computing start-up QPerfect.

His research focuses on atomic, molecular, and optical physics, quantum simulations, and quantum computing.
