USIAS Distinguished Lecture - Ben L. Feringa "The art of building small:  From molecular switches to molecular motors"

Ben Feringa, 2016 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, will give a lecture on his journey in the world of molecular nanoscience, describing how it was guided by fundamental questions, potential applications, serendipity and molecular beauty. He will discuss his work on designing miniscule molecular machines, in particular the synthesis and functioning of molecular switches and motors, and their applications such as smart medicines or responsive materials and artificial muscles.
