Mini Symposium Wuhan University

October 23, 2019 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Abstracts:

1. The Modification of the Functionality of p-Molecules through the Structural Adjustment

Zhen Li (李振)

College of Chemistry and Molecular Sciences, Wuhan University, Wuhan, China, 430072

E-mail: lizhen@whu.edu.cn

To construct p-molecules with different structures is one of the key points in the research field of opto-electronic materials. In many cases, the molecular structure not only affects the intramolecular p-conjugation, but also the intermolecular p-p stacking, to result in the different functionalities. In this talk, some typical examples will be presented to partially demonstrate the interesting different properties with minor or even ignorable structural difference.

2. Three-dimensional Covalent Organic Frameworks

Cheng Wang (汪成)

College of Chemistry and Molecular Sciences, Wuhan University, Wuhan, China, 430072

E-mail: chengwang@whu.edu.cn

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) represent an emerging class of crystalline polymers and have attracted considerable attention over the past decade. Until now, most of work has been focusing on 2D COFs. The design and synthesis of 3D COFs have been considered a big challenge. Recently, we reported a new topology design to synthesize 3D COFs, starting from tetrahedral and square building blocks connected through [4 + 4] imine condensation reactions. In this talk, we will present our recent progress in 3D COFs.

3. New Synthetic Approaches to Deuterated Aromatics and Trideuteromethylated Heteroaromatics/Phenols

Wen-Bo Liu (刘文博)

College of Chemistry and Molecular Sciences, Wuhan University, Wuhan, China, 430072

E-mail: wenboliu@whu.edu.cn

Introducing deuterium into active pharmaceutical ingredients may enhance their pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamics properties and can be utilized as efficient tools for optimization of metabolic stability and toxicity of drugs. Recently, our group have developed a general, mild and scalable method for deuterium incorporation by potassium methoxide/hexamethyldisilane-mediated dehalogenation of arylhalides (top scheme). We also developed a detosylative alkylation chemistry for the incorporation of isotopically labelled N-heterocycles and phenols using readily available CD3OH and 13CH3OH (bottom scheme).
