Dr. Lorenz Mitschang “A comprehensive model for hyperpolarized 129Xe NMR biosensing: tracking the detection limit and quantifying the sensor concentration”

October 30, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 11:00 pm

Abstract:

Hyperpolarized 129Xe forms in conjunction with reversibly bonded molecular host structures a formidable nuclear magnetic resonance sensor for the ultrasensitive detection of molecular and cellular markers in-vitro as well as in-vivo. To further the quantitative assessment of the method, a comprehensive model, integrating the hyperpolarization generation, the spin relaxation and the host-xenon exchange dynamics, is proposed. As demonstrated for the well-established host molecule cryptophane-A, the model enables the control over experimentation and facilitates tailored performances and quantitative explorations of hyperpolarized xenon based sensing.
